Material Safety Data Sheets
Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)
Jefferson maintains a list of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), required documents that contain information for the safe handling, use, storage and disposal of potentially hazardous chemicals. Chemicals refer to everything from the ink in a pen, battery acid, printer/copier toner, cleaning products, art supplies, etc.
You can search the MSDS list by product or manufacturer. The first time you go to this website, you may be asked what language you would like to use and what your email address is.
To search for a specific item, just type the name in the search field or you can click on a letter in the alphabet list and scroll through the list. Click on the item, for the MSDS.
Chemical Hygiene Plan
Jefferson Community College also maintains a Chemical Hygiene Plan aimed at improving safety in the laboratory setting. The primary objective of this program is to provide a reference guide to laboratory workers who use, or potentially may be exposed to, hazardous substances which could endanger their health. Appropriate use of these procedures should eliminate hazards frequently associated with standard laboratory procedures.
