Graduation Requirements Policy
PURPOSE:
This policy is designed to establish the requirements for completion of degree and certificate programs.
DEFINITIONS:
The following terms are used in this document with specific meanings, as defined in this section.
- The “SOC DNS” (Service member Opportunity Colleges Degree Network System) is a system
of college curriculum networks designed for service members, veterans, and their adult
family members.
- The term “residency” refers to the amount of a degree program that must be completed
at the home college in order to be considered a student at the College.
STATEMENT OF POLICY:
- Degree Requirements: A degree candidate must fulfill these general requirements for the of anAssociate'scompletion
degree:
- Successfully complete all course requirements as listed under the degree program for
which the candidate is matriculated
- Successfully complete a minimum of 60 credit hours of course work.
- Complete a minimum of 30 semester hours of credit at Jefferson Community College.
To earn SOC DNS residency, students must complete 15 academic credit hours.
- Attain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 upon completion of the matriculated
candidate's degree program.
- Satisfactorily meet all College financial obligations.
- Receive recommendation for graduation by the faculty of Jefferson Community College.
- Successfully complete all course requirements as listed under the degree program for
which the candidate is matriculated
- Certificate Requirements: A certificate candidate must fulfill these general requirements:
- Complete successfully all course requirements as listed under the certificate program
for which the candidate is matriculated.
- Complete a minimum of 15 semester credit hours at Jefferson Community College.
- Attain a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.00 upon completion of the certificate
program.
- Satisfactorily meet all College financial obligations.
- Receive recommendation for graduation by the faculty of Jefferson Community College.
- Complete successfully all course requirements as listed under the certificate program
for which the candidate is matriculated.
- Second Degree Requirements:
- Fulfill all specific course and curriculum requirements for each additional program
- Successfully complete a minimum of 15 credit hours in residence for each additional
degree or certificate.
- Attain a 2.00 cumulative average.
- In the event a student has interrupted enrollment for one or more semesters and wishes
to return to full-time study in an additional degree program, the student must complete
an application through the Admissions Office in addition to all of the above.
- Fulfill all specific course and curriculum requirements for each additional program
- Petitions to waive or substitute individual courses are approved by the Office of
Academic Affairs.
- The Vice President for Academic Affairs is responsible for overseeing this policy.
